Our product life cycle template allows you to visualize the different phases your products go through from idea to sale.
Five phases of the product life cycle
Products and certain product categories go through the so-called product life cycle. This describes the path a product takes from its development to its eventual obsolescence.
This process is divided into five phases: After its introduction, the product goes through the growth phase, followed by the maturity and saturation phase, and finally the degeneration phase, in which a company faces the decision of whether the product should be withdrawn from the market.
The life cycle of a product is linked to the current development of a market. The duration is not always the same – some life cycles last for decades, like that of the VW Beetle, whereas others only last a few months, such as the cycle of a particular iPhone model.
