Many users rely on Microsoft Word to create forms. Below, you'll learn why PowerPoint is a good, or even better, alternative.
Forms using Word or PowerPoint?
First, it's important to note that Word does offer some good options and even templates for creating forms. However, it was primarily developed as a word processing program for writing long text documents.
Many people creating forms with Word have experienced the frustration of discovering formatting errors, inconsistent indentation, or uneven line spacing when reviewing their documents. The result looks unprofessional, and what should have been a quick and easy form template turns into an hours-long battle against formatting issues.
PowerPoint, on the other hand, is designed for creating individual slides with very different layouts and gives the user significantly more freedom in designing individual documents. It is therefore the better choice for creating form templates.
The practical guidelines and positioning aids make design particularly easy. Inserting and arranging images, free text fields, or checkboxes is also very simple.

PowerPoint slides in DIN A4 format
By default, PowerPoint slides are not displayed in A4 format when you start it, which is why many users don't consider this when creating printed pages. However, the format can be changed with just a few clicks:
- Click on the "Design" tab.
- In the "Customization" group, select the "Slide Size" button.
- In the drop-down selection, click on “Custom slide size”
- Under Paper size, select A4 format.
Use templates for forms
A consistent design across all forms is particularly important for a company's professional image. In PowerPoint, you can easily and quickly organize and duplicate individual slides using the slide thumbnail view.
By using the master view, you can specify the layout for all linked slides and prevent employees accessing your form templates from accidentally changing or deleting them.
Creating and using templates simplifies your work and saves time and money. If a similar form already exists, creating a new one sometimes takes only a few seconds. You can find professionally designed, pre-made layouts, for example, in our shop with the Forms Toolbox.
