With PowerPoint, you can not only create presentations on your laptop or PC, but also print or export them in other ways. However, there is a problem: By default, PowerPoint saves slides as images at only 96 dpi.
This article will show you how to increase the export resolution and thus save your slides in higher quality. This can be done in just a few steps.
Export your slides in high resolution with these two options!
Option #1: Change the export resolution settings
The export resolution of a PowerPoint slide is usually 96 dots per inch (dpi) . However, to save your slides at a higher resolution, you need to edit this setting.
- Right-click on "Start" in your PC's menu bar and then select the "Run" option.

- In the field that now appears, enter "regedit" . Then confirm your selection with "OK".

- In the subsequent confirmation window, confirm that it is okay to make changes.
- A new window will then open, which may seem confusing at first glance due to the various labels. Don't be alarmed, however, and locate one of the following registry keys belonging to your PowerPoint file (expand the subfolders one by one):

- Now, under “Options” and “Edit” , select the “New” command and then click on DWORD (32-bit) Value.

- Now enter " ExportBitmapResolution" instead and press Enter.
- Finally, in the "Edit DWORD Value" window, select the "Decimal" option and choose the desired resolution from the table. Then save your selection by clicking "OK" and close the window as usual.
Option #2: Export your slides as images
If the method described above is too complicated for you, you can alternatively export your slides as images . This works as follows:
- Open your presentation in PowerPoint and select the slide you want to export as an image.
- Now, under "File" , select the "Save As" option.
- To save your slides as images, select one of the following image formats:

- Now select "Save" . A dialog box will appear where you can decide whether you want to export all slides or only the selected one.
Exporting PowerPoint slides: the advantages
Exporting your presentations opens up various possibilities. For example, you can play your presentation on different devices and are not limited to just one.
Furthermore, you can share your presentation with interested parties, colleagues, and clients . Unlike sending the presentation, exporting also allows you to control how the content is displayed to the recipients.
When sending PowerPoint presentations as email attachments, for example, the layout can easily become distorted, ruining your design. Learn more about "File formats and export options" in our article on the topic.
