Instructions: Editing vector graphics in PowerPoint

|Tom Schweitzer
In our online shop you will find numerous PowerPoint templates that we have equipped with vector graphics. Vector graphics do not consist of pixels, but of points connected by lines. They are particularly well-suited for the razor-sharp display of graphics and offer a resolution that would not be possible with pixel-based graphics.
Our templates are generally optimized for direct use. However, if you do want to make changes to individual vectors, there are several ways to do so. In this blog post, we'll show you how to customize vector graphics in PowerPoint.

Change individual vector points

Although we offer our vector graphics in different design variations, you may want to modify some of these shapes according to your own ideas. To do this, click on the desired vector graphic with the left mouse button. 19.05 Now, in the 'Insert Shapes' tab, click on 'Edit Shape' and then select the 'Edit Points' option. The vector graphic will now be displayed with a red outline and can be adjusted as desired by dragging the individual points. 19.05 - 1 WARNING: Changing the shape is not always easy and can cause difficulties, especially for beginners. Therefore, only save any changes if you are absolutely sure that everything looks the way you want.

Assign new form

Changing the graphic is also much easier: You can easily assign a completely new pre-made shape (star, arrow, heart, rectangle, etc.) to the desired vector graphic. Select the graphic as shown above using the left mouse button. Then, in the 'Insert Shapes' tab, under 'Edit Shape', select the 'Change Shape' option. 19.05 - 2 Now select the desired new shape using the left mouse button. This will be immediately transferred to the vector graphic. 19.05 - 3 IMPORTANT: If there is a text placeholder in the vector graphic, you must ensure that it is adjusted to the new shape. To do this, select the text box with the left mouse button and drag it to the appropriate position.

Change color

Do you want to recolor a vector graphic? Select the desired graphic with a left-click. Then, under 'Format', select the 'Fill Effect' option and your desired color. The change will be applied immediately. 19.05 - 4

Change size

If you want to resize a vector graphic, proceed as follows: Select the desired graphic using the left mouse button. Position the mouse pointer at one of the corner points of the graphic. Hold down the Shift key (up arrow) on the keyboard while dragging the selected corner point with the left mouse button. 19.05 - 5 CAUTION: Be sparing with such changes. They can quickly affect text placeholders and other graphics. This means that the new size of the vector graphic often no longer matches the slide layout. In such cases, move the text boxes until they fit. Alternatively, you can also resize text boxes as described above.
