The enterprise architecture is the interaction of information technology and business activities of a company. A distinction is made between information architecture and software architecture. This is part of the IT strategy or corporate strategy and is visualized by the corporate architecture. 

The ISO standard defines general requirements for the company architecture, which define two types of company architecture. Type 1 deals with the description of the snapshot at the current time (status quo) and Type 2 focuses on the further development of the company architecture. In practice, various models and principles have proven themselves for the representation of the corporate architecture, which determine the basic features of the architecture. The goal is always to ensure that corporate IT is aligned with business goals and to manage complex processes and relationships.
